Riot recently announced a total map change that will be used for tournaments, competitive and unrated. The map in question is Split, which is one of the maps in Valorant. After patch 5.0 or the patch on June 22, 2022, you won’t be able to find Split when queuing at Unrated and Competitive, but you can still find Split maps on Spike rush and custom mode or other modes. Riot as a game developer believes that this will balance variety for new players and players who are in a vacuum but want to play again.<\/p>\n

Lucky Number 7<\/h2>\n

\"\" The removal of Split from the map pool of course resulted in a total map pool of 7. Riot thinks that picking 7 is a lucky number, 7 maps are also quite capable of offering variety and mastery of these maps. Riot also thinks that if there are too many maps to learn, it will be difficult for players to explore the existing maps and more to just getting to know them. Especially with so many agents now, of course the combinations needed for strategies will also be more varied, to memorize all of that will be even more difficult of course. At first they (Riot) thought about adding Split to Unrated, but after much thought they finally decided to keep Split out of the map pool, because why are players learning that map if that map isn’t used in Competitive?<\/p>\n

Why is Map Split?<\/h2>\n

\"why What’s with the map split? and why do you have to map split? Riot said that they didn’t just choose Split to get out of the map pool, a lot of calculations were made to make this decision. After looking at various factors, starting from how players feel when playing on that map, release time, map history and updates that are being planned, what strategy variations will be used for that map and several other things. With a number of factors that have been determined earlier, Riot uses the algorithm they have and Split becomes the preferred map to be released, but they are sure that the Split map will come back again, and of course it might be returned with certain changes or balancing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
