This concept is closely related to marriage, where a spouse who is considered a soul mate must live together, build a household, and have children.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTraditionally, soul mate is often associated with spiritual or metaphysical aspects, so it is often associated with luck, fate, or karma. However, the concept of soul mate can also be viewed from a psychological perspective, namely through the selection of a life partner based on certain criteria such as similar values, interests, and goals in life.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAlthough many people still believe in the concept of soul mate, there are those who doubt its existence. Hundreds of years ago, marriage was not always done because they felt they had found true love, but also as a survival strategy. The family became the main pillar for people to work and expand political influence, to share the produce of land and livestock, and to confiscate power from other families.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nHowever, where did the concept of being matched with true love come from? We can trace it to Europe, where poets, artists and philosophers began to fight for the right to personal happiness, including the right to marry someone they really liked. At the same time, the world was entering the era of the industrial revolution, in which farmers and ranchers turned to cities to work in factories, and the culture of having more children to take care of the land began to fade. Hence, marriage gradually became more focused on love as we know it today.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSo, what exactly is the definition of a mate? Of course, everyone has a different definition, but we often interpret it as a partner who can play multiple roles, being a friend, best friend, career mentor, driver, chef, financial manager, and so on. Someone who is like this is often seen as a perfect partner and there is an assumption that if they have flaws, maybe they are not meant to be.
